I received such great feedback from my Countdown to Christmas activity bundle, that I decided to create a similar one for Valentine’s Day. Today I’m sharing exactly how I made this fun scratch-off DIY Valentine’s Day Countdown so you can recreate it for your own kids!
I’ve also teamed up with a group of mamas on Instagram to each make our own DIY Valentine’s Day Countdown. Make sure you check out their adorable creations as well for even more inspiration! I’ll link them all at the bottom of this post!

Scratch Off Countdown Bags
I associate Valentine’s day with sweet treats and acts of kindness. Instead of daily activities (like my Christmas countdown), I wanted this one to be filled with small surprises. My kids will be able to scratch off a message and open one bag each day leading up to February 14th.
The best part about this DIY is that it is so customizable. It can also be really inexpensive, too! You can include whatever treats and surprises you want to give your kids. I went to the Target dollar spot to find a lot of the items I used.
Below I am listing the supplies, directions, and 14 treats I chose, but I have also included a ton more suggestions for you to pick from!
Supplies
Scratch Off Note Cards
White Paper Lunch Bags
Mini Clothes Pins
Sharpie Marker or Pen
14 different treats, surprises, or activities with the fun phrase from the suggestions below (I went to the dollar tree to find most of my prizes.)
Directions:
Decide on 14 treats, surprises, or activities you want to give your little one. As I stated above I wanted a mix of healthy and yummy treats as well as a few inexpensive prizes. I found everything at the grocery store (or currently in our pantry) and at the Target dollar spot. In total, I spent less than $20.
Once you have chosen the 14 treats, surprises, or activities, use your marker to write a message on each of the scratch-off cards. (See below for cute messages).
Attach each card to a white bag, fill with the corresponding surprise and secure it closed with a clothespin.
Number the bags 1-14 so your child has one to open each day of February leading up to Valentine’s Day.
