I have a love/hate relationship with bedtime. We are fortunate to have a relatively easy bedtime routine with our kiddos compared to some (I could do a whole separate blog post on that topic!), but that doesn’t mean it’s always smooth sailing.
One of my favorite parts of our bedtime routine with the kids is reading. Both Jason and I love to read to the kids, so bedtime stories are never skipped. I could easily share many more than this, but today I’ve narrowed it down to our ten favorite bedtime books for kids that we always seem to come back to.

Guess How Much I Love You is in my top three favorite children’s books of all time. I tell my kids constantly, “I love you to the moon and back.” It is one of our favorite books to read together. We also have the stuffed rabbit to go along with the book that sits on the bookshelf.
The Gruffalo is a book that I had never heard of before dating Jason. It is a book he read to Alex as a child, and quickly became a favorite of Grayson’s.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is another favorite that I have loved forever. This is a book that is currently a favorite of both Grayson and Audrey. They listen to the recording every morning on the way to daycare. We have the stuffed caterpillar and butterfly to go along with this book, too.
I Wish You More is a book of wishes for your child. It is a quick read, but a great one!
The Snail and the Whale is another book that I was introduced to by Jason and Alex. This book has the same author as The Gruffalo and has a beautiful message about friendship.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? I think we all know and love this one! This is currently Audrey’s favorite, and it is great for teaching about animals and colors.
Take Heart My Child is a book that you don’t really hear about. My mom gave me at my baby shower when I was pregnant with Grayson. I highly suggest checking it out because it is great.
Love you Forever is another one of my all-time favorite bedtime books for kids; however, I have to admit I don’t read it that often because I cry every time. If you’ve a parent that’s read the book (and I’m sure you have), you probably understand!
The Wonderful Things You Will Be is another encouraging and uplifting book that has a great message.
Llama Llama Red Pajama is a fan favorite for good reason. This is a book that Grayson has loved for a long time and knows the words by heart. We also have the talking mama llama that reads the entire book aloud, which the kids love!
Let me know what some of your favorite bedtime books for kids are. For even more toddler and baby content, check out the motherhood section of my blog. Also, make sure you are following me on Instagram where I share a ton more about mom life! Thanks so much for reading!
