Looking for some great baby essentials for the first year? Today I’m sharing some of my recent favorites that have been super helpful with baby number three.
Raising a baby is hard work. There’s no doubt about it. But with the right gear, it can be a little bit easier. Here are some of the must-haves for your little one’s first year.
If you have babies you know one of the most important items to have on hand at all times is wipes. WaterWipes are our go-to with Gabe because they gently cleanse while still protecting his sensitive skin.
WaterWipes are the latest innovation in biodegradable wipes. These baby wipes are made with 99.9% water, making them ideal for sensitive skin. WaterWipes are also completely biodegradable, meaning they won’t pollute the environment.
So if you’re looking for a way to keep your baby’s bottom clean and fresh, without harming the planet, WaterWipes are the way to go!
Boon
Another must-have baby essential for the first year is a good bottle. Between our three littles, I feel like I’ve tried them all and the Boon Nursh Silicone Pouch Bottle is one of our faves for sure.
The silicone pouch collapses as your baby drinks to cut down on air. This helps to reduce gas, reflux, colic, and painful burbs. They are also 100% dishwasher safe which is a must for any busy mama.
Going through multiple bottles a day means you also need a place to dry them after they are washed. This Boon compact drying rack has been a lifesaver!
I’ve recently been on a mission to make our home (especially our kitchen) as clutter-free as possible, so I especially love that it doesn’t take up much space. Even though it is compact it can still hold up to 6 bottles, plates, and utensils. The best part is that it folds flat for easy storage when not in use.
The First Years Brand
One of my favorite times of day with my babies has always been bath time. Probably because they love it so much. The Sure Comfort Folding Baby Bather is perfect for those sweet baby bathtime moments. I especially love this bather because it can fit into your sink as well. I’m sure we can all agree there is nothing cuter than a baby taking a sink bath.
This bather is perfect for babies from birth to 15 pounds. It inclines to comfortably cradle your baby with raised mesh sides and it folds up so you can store it or take it on the go!
Disney Lullaby
After a nice bath, it’s time to wind down and enjoy some nighttime cuddles. This is the best time of day to put on Disney Lullaby music which helps all of the kids (and me) calm down and relax before bed.
The playlist contains instrumental and soothing renditions of all the best Disney hits to help your baby unwind and relax. It’s even been known to put Gabe to sleep!
I love that you can find the playlist on any of your go-to streaming apps. This makes it accessible nearly anywhere you need it- at home, in the car, or while traveling.
Candlewick Press Book
As I teacher I know the importance of reading to your kids, which is why I’m including I Am A Baby in my list of baby essentials for the first year.
This hilarious and heartfelt book can be enjoyed by both parents and kids. It is written from a baby’s point of view and celebrates the changes they bring to a family- both challenging and amazing.
Written and illustrated by bestselling author Bob Shea this is the perfect laugh-out-loud book for any parent who enjoys a little witty truth in their parenting journey.
Stride Rite Artie Shoe
I’m not sure how it happened so fast, but Gabe is getting to the age where he is starting to stand and take a few assisted steps. That means having a good pair of baby shoes like the StrideRite Arite is even more important.
We have always been a fan of Stride Rite because they are both functional and fashionable. I love this pair because they are made for first-time walkers, are easy to take on and off and the neutral colors match so many of his outfits.
You can use the code BBRITE10 for $10 off your purchase of $70 or more at striderite.com.
After having three kids, I feel like a bit of a pro when it comes to picking out baby essentials for the first year. All of these definitely fall into this category. What are some of your must-have baby items for year one? Let me know in the comments below.
