Our baby girl turned one at the beginning of the month. Today I’m doing a roundup of 6-12 month baby essentials.

Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat
The Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat is one of the most used items on this list. It is super comfortable and perfect once your baby has good upper body control. We used this everywhere in the house- on the island while I cooked dinner, at the kitchen table when we ate, and in the bathroom as I got ready. You can connect toys to it so your baby can play. The chair folds up flat, which is great for travel and also makes it easy to store. We took this with us everywhere, and the best part is that it is under $40.
Ergobaby Omni 360 Carrier
When my babies were tiny, I loved to use a wrap; however, once they start to get bigger and could squirm around more I felt like were are safer in a carrier. My favorite one is the Ergobaby Omni 360 Carrier. We’ve had it since Grayson was little, and it is still in perfect condition. I love that I can wear my baby around the house when they want to be loved on, but still have my arms free to get things done.
The Fisher Price Animal Activity Jumperoo is another much loved baby item. The one we have is actually a hand-me-down from my niece and nephew (so almost 10 years old), and is still going strong. This bouncer is so much fun for babies. Audrey is on the shorter side, so for a while she couldn’t reach the ground. We fixed this problem by putting a soft pillow under her which she LOVED! The only downside is that it is a bit bulky and takes up space, but that is true with most baby items. Your living room will never look the same once you have kids lol!
As your baby gets closer to walking on their own, the VTech Sit to Stand Learning Walker is a MUST! This one has a 5-star rating with over 15,000 review…that speak for itself. It’s interactive, lights up and plays songs, so it doubles as a toy while also teaching your baby to walk. This is currently Audrey’s favorite toy, and she is so proud of herself when she pushes it across the room.
A good high chair is something you definitely want to invest in as your baby gets bigger because you will use it several times every day. We have the Fisher Price 4-in-1 High Chair at our house, which is ideal to grow with your child. It turns into a chair and then a booster seat as your baby gets bigger. It also has a reclining feature so you can use it when your baby is really little. My mom has the Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair at her house which is great too because it connects to the chair and doesn’t take up any extra room on the floor. Both come in lots of different colors and patterns.
Pack n Play
This item was also in my newborn-six month essentials blog, but it’s so good that I had to include it again. The Grayco Pack n Play serves so many purposes. We have actually been using it for Audrey to sleep in after she moved out of her bassinet. Grayson hasn’t transitioned to a toddler bed yet, and we didn’t want to buy another baby bed, so we put her in the pack n play for the time being. It’s also great to use when you need to safely contain your baby so you can get a few things done. We often put Audrey in it with a few toys so she can’t crawl around and get into everything. Finally, it is a MUST HAVE for on the go because it is so portable. We did some traveling the past few months, and it came with us everywhere!
When my babies were tiny, I swore by the Halo Sleepsack Swaddle and the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleep Suit. Once they could roll over and it was unsafe to use those, I transitioned them to the Halo Sleepsack. This one is similar to the Halo Swaddle, only their arms are free. It’s basically a wearable blanket that zips up. They come in different materials for different times of the year or climates. Here in Louisiana, I typically gravitate to the muslin ones. Audrey can’t sleep without it, and Grayson is almost three and still sleeps in his nightly.
Blender to Make Baby Food
Around six months I introduced my babies to food. I chose to make my own baby food for both kids because it was super easy and a huge money saver. I already had a magic bullet so I used that, however this Baby Food Making System is pretty much identical, plus you get all the storage containers which is so convenient. These reusable food pouches are great too!
Most babies get their first teeth around 6 months, so you want to be sure to have tons of teething rings on hand. Audrey love these Nuby Ice Gel Keys because you can pop them in the fridge to give her gums some relief. Others that we have are these fruit shaped ones and this teething mitt.
I hope you find some of these baby essentials helpful for your little one. Make sure to check out my post on my newborn-six month essentials, too! Let me know what some of your must-have baby items are in the comments.
